AR.00015.2 MOIFA Curators: Richard Bowen Stark Series

Joe Anaya of Taos, NM  in 1966.  Photograph by Mansi Kern. In 1966, Kern wrote "Joe Anaya was born in Arroyo Hondo on a small farm. His musical talent was developed as he walked the long distance to the Hondo River and back with pails of water for his parents domestic needs. As a young boy, he would hum and keep rhythm with the empty pails as he made the trip to the water each day.
He began to play the violin at a young age. He has since played at many dances, weddings, fiestas, pageants, and other ... events. Joe Anaya is at present still playing his violin for many Taos celebrations."
