Biography
The Bartlett Library and Archives documents the history of the museum and provides books, periodicals, audiovisual materials, artist files and other resources to support research and study related to museum’s collection of objects. Our library opened along with the museum on September 5, 1953 (though it was not named in honor of founder Florence Dibell Bartlett until 1999). Anyone with an interest in learning more about folk art is welcome to use our materials, including books about folk art, folklife and customs; papers and images related to the museum’s history; and papers, images and recordings representing the work of scholars in our field. This is not a circulating library. You are welcome to visit and use the materials in our collection, but nothing can be checked out or taken home. Our catalog is available online at http://library.internationalfolkart.org.
