Silk Biscuit Puff by Ida Martinez. AR.00027: Traditional Quilt Makers in New Mexico Survey Project. Ida Martinez was born August 20, 1925, in Black Lake, New Mexico. The mother of twelve children, she was also the moving force behind the quilters group at the old church in Arroyo Seco. Asked why she made quilts, she replied "mostly to use scraps and clothes going to waste." She would often work on 4 to 7 quilts at a time.
