Biography
Meliton Medina began dancing with the Alcade Matachines at the age of 12. His grandfather, Eugenio Trujillo, was their main violinist; Medina's father, Manuel Medina, also joined them briefly. In the early 1980s, Medina began playing violin in the group after finding a recording of Carmelito Torres, who was taught by Trujillo and also played for both the San Juan and Alcade Matachines. Medina learned the songs from the tape and was accepted by the Alcade group as their violinist since he played just like their previous members. [source: Dana Everts 8/8/1988]
