Biography
Mary Jane Garcia was born in Dona Ana, New Mexico. For her Master's thesis in Anthropology at New Mexico State University, she wrote the first ever history of her hometown, entitled "An Ethno-History of Dona Ana Village." She is a skilled oral historian, specializing in belief legends specific to Dona Ana. Garcia also owned a bar in Santa Fe and served on the New Mexico state Senate from 1988 to 2012.
