Biography
Rolando de Leon was an ornamental iron worker in Sante Fe, New Mexico. He participated in the Spanish Market with his work influenced by Mexican, New Mexican, Hispanic, and European ornamental styles. He crafted a wide variety of items ranging from ornamental nails, to screen doors, to fireplace toaster forks. De Leon stated a dislike for the idea that the Market and museums were responsible for defining "authentic" and "traditional." [source: Dana Everts 7/30/1987]
