Biography
Truman Bailey was an American designer who traveled the world, working with folk artists to adapt their traditions to American consumer tastes and products. He simultaneously worked with American retailers to develop a market for these products. Under the auspices of the Inter-American Development Commission, he worked from 1942-1946 on researching and developing Peruvian folk arts for an international market.
